Equal Pay/Value Update
Record of the Decision
Members considered a report that provided details of the progress achieved to date towards resolving the current equal pay/value Employment Tribunal claims and negotiations with the terade unions to avoid claims being submitted.

In addition Members considered a request from the Tristar Board in relation to developing their own pay and grading structure.


1. The progress to date be noted.

2. Approval be given to Tristar Homes Limited to develop terms and conditions of employment, including a new pay structure, which would meet their business aims, objectives and aspirations. This would be subject to:-

a) the Council's Human Resources and Legal Services being kept informed.

b) the Council, as sole shareholder, considering the final proposals.
Reasons for the Decision
The recommendations provided the opportunity for both the Council and Tristar Homes Limited to develop pay and grading structures which met their own organisational requirements with in-build safeguards for both parties in their respective HR and Legal Services ensuring risks were minimised in relation to equal pay because of the current "associated employer" link.
Alternative Options Considered and Rejected
Declared (Cabinet Member) Conflicts of Interest
Councillors Leonard and Nelson declared personal, non prejudicial interests in respect of this item as they were Members of Tristar Homes Limited's Board.
