Members were requested to consider the summary of evidence for the review of the Marketing of the Borough, and consider the areas for draft recommendations.

Members held discussion on Saltholme and queried whether the bus companies ran a service to Saltholme on a Sunday. The Scrutiny Officer would request this information and report back to Members.

Discussion was held on the Stockton and Darlington 1825 Railway's 'first passenger ticket office' situated at Bridge House and whether it was viable to develop this into a form of attraction. It was noted that it was likely that securing funding for such a scheme from public or private sources would be difficult in the current economic climate, and the building was used for charitable services. Members considered that more needed to be done in order to promote the railway heritage of the Borough, whilst recognising the progress that had been made to date.

Discussion was held on the new Council website which would be launched in April, 2013. Members queried whether it would include any virtual tours. It was reported that the new website had greater capability than the current site.

Members discussed Preston Hall Park/Museum. Members requested further information on where the visitors lived so that they could identify how many were from out of the area. Discussion was also held on the jetty at Preston Park and ensuring it was suitable for more vessels than just the Teesside Princess; it was reported that this was aiming to be ready for the official opening of the Museum in March, 2013.

Members held discussion on sporting events in the Borough as they felt that these had been very successful and would like to see events such as these continuing.

The final report would be presented for the Committee's consideration at the meeting of 13th March, 2013.
