At its Annual Meeting held on Wednesday 23rd May 2007 the Council approved appointments to its Committees, Panels and Joint/Outside Bodies for the Municipal year 2007/2008. Subsequently, appointments and necessary amendments had been identified, which required approval by the Council viz:-

Pursuant to an altered notice of motion, which was agreed by the meeting, the following motion was moved by Councillor Lupton and seconded by Councillor Mrs Rigg:-

"That Stockton Borough Council makes representation to the Home Secretary that consideration is given to amending the existing legislative provisions to ensure that Council representation is determined by individual authorities based on the population number of each individual authority and that the nominations made reflect the political balance of the nominating Council." and

"That similar representation is made to the LGA and APA for their advice to be amended to prevent the imbalance of representation on the Police Authority, created by the current imprecise method of calculation of political balance."

The motion was carried.
