APPOINTMENT OF THE MAYOR OF THE BOROUGH FOR THE MUNICIPAL YEAR 2013/2014
RESOLVED that Councillor Mrs Nelson be elected Mayor for the Municipal Year 2013/2014.

The Leader of the Council had distributed a copy of his Annual Report that outlined the achievements of the Council during 2012/13.

The Leader of the Council outlined that Members and Officers could be proud of what had been achieved.

COUNCILLORS' CORPORATE PARENTING PLEDGE
The Mayor signed her pledge accepting her role as a Corporate Parent. She reminded all Members of their responsibility as a Corporate Parent and encouraged each of them also to sign the pledge, if they had not already done so.

The Worshipful the Mayor recognised the achievements of individuals that had been successfully nominated for a Mayor's Civic Award for people, organisations and businesses who had made a real difference to the community.

The following winners were presented with the Mayor's Civic Award:-

The Young Persons Award - Young Inspectors - Chloe Armstrong, Katya Butler, Claire Scott and Samantha Pitchers were in attendance to collect the award on behalf of the Young Inspectors.

The Services to the Community Award - Geoff Lee and Joe Glynn - Geoff Lee had shown outstanding commitment to public services in the Borough - Joe Glynn had made an outstanding contribution to the sport of judo. Geoff Lee and Joe Glynn were in attendance at the meeting to collect the awards.

The Green Award - Doug Nicholson - Chair of Friends of Tees Heritage Park - Doug Nicholson was in attendance at the meeting to collect the award.

Carer / Foster Carer Award - Joan Perry - Committed Carer in the Borough - Joan Perry was in attendance at the meeting to collect the award.
