Consideration was given to the minutes from the meeting held on the 6th November 2019.

Due to illness the Healthwatch Annual Report was not presented.

Members received information regarding the Inspection of Local Authority Children’s Services (ILACS) May 2019 from the Assistant Director Safeguarding and Looked After Children which included:

• Whilst the outcome was disappointing, no child was deemed unsafe in the Borough.

• A more effective approach to tracking children needs to be in place under the Public Law Outline.

• An Action Plan has been agreed and work commenced promptly; a lot of the Actions have already been completed.

• A further inspection would be carried out in 2020.

Consideration was given to the draft final report following the Task and Finish Scrutiny Review of Domestic Violence and its Impact on Children.

Recommendations from the Task and Finish Review focused on training and awareness raising, analysis of the effectiveness of interventions through contract monitoring for domestic abuse services, early help, joint working between children’s and adults’ and opportunities for collaborative working.

Councillor Evans commented on the importance of this area of work and welcomed the recommendations.
