Members were provided with evidence from Matthew Clifford, Principal Planning Officer, Spatial Planning. A briefing paper had been provided to Members on The Role of Planning in Pupil Projections.

Members were informed that data was provided by the JSU to the Spatial Planning Section in the form of a rolling spreadsheet, it was complex information that was used to inform pupil projections.

Information was provided to Members providing detail of current housing applications and developments made prior to March 2007. The information was broken down into the development name/area and the total no. of dwellings. Members requested that the information be broken down further to provide detail on house type/no. of bedrooms to provide an indication of family size, this would ensure that the information was more meaningful to this Review.

Also, as the information received only detailed developments/planning applications prior to March 2007, Members were concerned that large developments such as 'Allensway' and 'Durham Road Bypass' were not included within this.

Members were informed that the Strategic Land Availability Assessment was a living document that was updated on an annual basis and was used in planning for Schools and Transport systems for the future.

Members were informed that better quality data was now available for Ingleby Barwick although house types for Village 6 were not available as yet.
