The Minutes of the Meetings held on the 6th and 13th February 2008 were approved and would be forwarded to Council.

REVIEW OF SCHOOL ORGANISATION PLAN
CONCLUDED that the Committee's findings and suggested recommendations be encapsulated in a draft report and circulated to members for comment, prior to tripartite discussion, and then further consideration by this Committee at its next meeting on the 27th March 2008.

Councillor Frankland declared a personal/non prejudicial interest in relation to Agenda Item No. 4 - School Organisation Plan further to being a School Governor.

Councillor Coleman declared a personal/non prejudicial interest in relation to Agenda Item No. 4 - School Organisation Plan further to being a School Governor.

Mr Campbell declared a personal/non prejudicial interest in relation to Agenda Item No. 4 - School Organisation Plan further to being a Head Teacher.

Mr Davies declared a personal/non prejudicial interest in relation to Agenda Item No. 4 - School Organisation Plan further to being a School Governor.

The Committee was introduced to Mr Malcolm Frank; who was the newly appointed Roman Catholic Diocesan Reprentative appointed by the Hexham Diocese. Mr Frank had been appointed to this Committee as a voting member for all issues regarding education.

The Chairman outlined for Members the various stages of the Committee's scrutiny review and the sources of the evidence provided.

Comments were invited on each of the issues and actions identified during this process; and suggestions submitted regarding future recommendations. It was proposed that the Committee's findings and suggested recommendations be encapsulated in a draft report and circulated to members for comment, prior to tripartite discussion, and then further consideration by this Committee at its next meeting on the 27th March 2008.

Consideration was given to potential topics for future scrutiny review for 2008/9. It was noted that all members had been invited to submit suggestions for review by 7th March 2008.

It was suggested by the Committee that the issue of Extended Schools be forwarded for consideration.
