Following the questionnaire that young people had taken the time to complete as part of this review, five winners had been selected in a prize draw to win an Ipod. Two of the winners were in attendance at the meeting to receive their prize by the Chairman and Committee Members.

Allison Agius was in attendance to provide a presentation on feedback from the voluntary and community sector. There were over 700 voluntary organisations and 117 of these were members of the Catalyst. A survey was sent to all of the Members and 94 were completed, 37 or these organisations provided CYP services. It was stated that there was a myriad of services available some of which were commissioned by the Local Authority. The voluntary sector were forming a consortium to discuss cyp services, funding streams, gaps in service etc. It had been proposed that small and large organisations would have an equal footing within the consortium and that bids would be brought forward to assess which organisation had the best skills to deliver the services.

Members were informed by Peter Seller that a letter had been received from the Department of Education regarding the Myplace proposals following the recommendations made by Cabinet. The letter stated that as the funding had been signed off by the Big Lottery Fund that the project should proceed to ensure it was completed to deadline. However, the letter did not address any of the other matters raised regarding using the funding more flexibly to develop services and facilities across the borough to improve youth services for young people. Further representations were being made to the Department for Education.

A forum had been held to which all of the Youth Service staff had been invited. 64 members of staff attended the forum which were broken down into 8 work groups. Each of the flip chart sheets from the work groups were displayed at the meeting for Members to view the Youth Service staff comments. The Chairman suggested sending a letter on behalf of the Committee to thank staff for their attendance and input.

Members were informed that the Chairman had met with the Ofsted lead inspector and it appeared that they were impressed with member engagement.

A full list of all extended school activities had been collated and would be distributed to Members.

Members discussed the issues at Redhill Youth Club and it was noted that Officers would be meeting with the ward members to discuss options. Members were informed that Blakeston Hall had been booked for sports activites to take place for 2 hours per week. This had been booked for 10 weeks and would be reviewed.
