Members were requested to consider the assessments of progress contained within the attached Progress Updates on the implementation of previously agreed recommendations. There were outstanding recommendations from the reviews of Bullying, Obesity and the EIT Review of Child Placements.

Members discussed the review of Bullying and requested that a further update be received in the new municipal year regarding progress of Schools in implementing a bullying policy. Members felt that some recommendations that were outstanding from this review may now be out of date and this should be revisited.

Members were pleased with the progress of the Obesity review's recommendations. Cllr Mrs Cains had attended meetings of the Healthy Lives Partnership and it was requested that the Committees appreciation for the hard work undertaken by Clare Spence and Ruth Hill be forwarded.

It was also reported that a lecture by Carolyn Summerbell, Professor of Human Nutrition entitled 'Unpicking Childhood Obesity' would be held on 4th April at 5.30pm at Queens Campus.

Members considered the progress update relating to Child Placements and were pleased to note that the Marketing Officer had been recruited in January. Members held further discussion on recommendation 1 - that acknowledged the work that the Corporate Director of CESC was doing with the REIP (Regional, Improvement and Efficiency Partnership) and the work with the Director colleagues in the sub-region and the committee would recommend that this continued. Members noted that any REIP funding that had not been committed would be withdrawn, however Members felt that partnership work was still continuing via other methods and felt that the Assessment of Progress Category should be changed to a 2.
