Consideration was given to the content of the draft minutes of the meeting held on 11th February 2008.

As part of the Review of Waste Management and Recycling Members received evidence from Mike Chicken (Environment Policy Officer) and Rachel Birch (Arups Consultants).

The evidence presented by Rachel Birch (Arups Consultants) covered the following keys areas:-

1. Ecological and Carbon Footprint

2. Waste - The Drivers of Change

3. European Waste Practices (2003)

4. Waste Management in Stockton

5. Understanding the impact: Life Cycle Analysis

6. Current Carbon Footprint

7. Impacts of Transport Emissions

8. Possible Scenarios and impact for the future

9. Conclusions

Members were then given the opportunity make comments and ask questions.

Mike Chicken (Environment Policy Manager) outlined the Review of Waste Collection and Disposal Options for the Authority. Within the document was:-

1. The Policy Option

2. Cost Implications for Capital Investment and Ongoing Revenue

3. Operational and Service Delivery Considerations

4. Public Opinion

5. Estimated Impact on Targets

6. Carbon Impact

Members were then given the opportunity make comments and ask questions.

Members were also presented with a summary of the responses from the "Talking Rubbish" questionaire.
