Consideration was given to the content of the draft minutes of the meeting held on 14th January 2008.

As part of the Review of Waste Management and Recycling R Bradley (Care For Your Area Service Manager) and Jamie McCann presented Members with the Waste Collection and Disposal Options. The document included:-

1. Policy Options
2. Cost Implications Capital Investment
3. Cost Implications Ongoing Revenue
4. Operational and Service Delivery Considerations
5. Public Opinion
6. Estimated Impact on Targets
7. Carbon Impact

Members were then given the opportunity to ask questions and make comments on the Waste Collection and Disposal Options.

S Daniels (Business and Performance Manager) outlined the current performance indicators and the proposed new National Indicators for Waste Management and Recycling. The Government set targets and implications of not achieving such were also presented. Members noted that the new indicator set was at the consultation stage and the final definitions and targets were subject to confirmation.

B Brown (DNS Link Officer) then presented Members with a progress report on the "Start Talking Rubbish" Questionnaire responses. There had been an encouraging response to the campaign to gather information on public opinion to inform the waste management review. A further report would be presented to Members at a future meeting.

The Scrutiny Officer presented Members with the Scope and an updated Project Plan for the Review of Waste Management and Recycling.

Members were requested to forward any ideas for future review topics to the Scrutiny Officer.
