Councillor Mrs Nesbitt declared a personal/non prejudicial interest in relation to Agenda Item No. 4 North Tees Health Centre Development further to assisting in the establishment of the Life Channel.

Members were provided with North Tees Primary Care Trust's recently published consultation document which contained proposals for a Stockton Health Centre Development. North Tees Primary Care Trust had begun to consult with all interested persons about the development of a health centre in Stockton and its likely location.

Members were also provided with the comments to the Department of Health's interim report to assist Members by informing them of other professional views regarding the modernisation of the NHS in general and the development of health centres in particular.

Members were requested to consider the content of the consultation document and to reflect on the discussion with health professionals as part of its scrutiny of the PCT proposals.

One of the two public meetings had been held on 16th May at Stockton Library and notes from this meeting were distributed by the Scrutiny Officer.

Members held discussion with the witnesses in attendance regarding the new health centre, the impact on the present GP Practices and on Accident and Emergency, out of hours services, pharmacy provision, and the consultation process.

Members discussed their forthcoming work programme.

As part of the consultation process for the new North Tees Health Centre Development, the Scrutiny Officer would be formulating members comments into a report.

Distribution of the consultation document for Momentum would be taking place from 20th May. Other consultation including Roadshows, Radio Interviews, Life Channel, Press Releases etc would take place. Dates for the Summit Events would be as follows:-

Friday 13th June - Hill Carter Hotel, Hartlepool
Monday 16th June - Swallow Hotel, Stockton on Tees
Wednesday 27th August - Hill Carter Hotel, Hartlepool
Friday 29th August - Durham University

Members were updated that the Ambulance Trust had chosen the Hebburn Site for their second Call Centre following consultation.

An update was also provided on the workplace health initiative by the National Blood Service who were running their own first in-house donor session at the Stockton Baptist Tabernacle purely for employees of Stockton Borough Council and its partners (no members of the public would be attending) on Friday 11th July. It was requested that more proactive advertising take place and suggested that line Managers encourage their staff to attend.

The Chairman stated that a Government Green Paper would be published soon on Future of Care and Support.
