Consideration was given to the content of the draft minutes of the meeting held on 20th August 2007.

As part of the Review of Employability the following witness had been invited to the meeting to give evidence to Members: -

Mr Marc Mason - Manager of Community Education - Adult Education Service

Ms Sandra Morton - Strategic Director: Curriculum and Standards - Stockton Riverside College

The evidence presented by Mr Marc Mason cover the following keys areas:-

1. The budget for Adult Community Learning, Further Education, Train to Gain, Older Learners Service.

2. The skills that can be provided.

3. Partnerships

4. Adult Learning Inspectorate

5. Student Profile

6. Figures for Enrolment and Participation

7. Delivering World Class Skills in a Demand Led System

The evidence presented by Ms Sandra Morton cover the following keys areas:-

1. A Brief Reflection of 2006/07

2. Core Funds (LSC) - Performance Measures/Criteria

3. OFSTED/ALI Grades June 2006

4. Core Provision (Government Funded) Priorities

5. Curriculum Profile Matrix (Core Funds)

6. LSC/Core Funded Provision

7. Learners at the Heart

Members were given the opportunity to ask questions of the witnesses. As some of the Member questions were quite detailed it was agreed that the Scrutiny Officer would forward the questions to the witnesses and that they would provide written responses. The Scrutiny Officer would then make the responses available to Members.

The Chairman thanked the witnesses for their attendance at the meeting.
