Consideration was given to the minutes of the meeting held on 20th December 2010.

Consideration was given to the draft report. Members requested that further information be put into recommendation 1 to explain the opportunities which this would allow to be explored. Members also requested that information regards the abolishment of visitTeesvalley and the implications on the Tourism Service be provided. The Committee suggested that the Head of Regeneration and Economic Development send out an email to all Members informing them about visitTeesvalley.

Members were asked to consider the assessments of progress contained within the Progress Updates on the implementation of previously agreed recommendations for the reviews of Pavement Parking and Sustainable School Travel, and the EIT review of Commissioning and Provision of Public and Community Transport.

Pavement Parking
Members were concerned with planning and the amount of parking spaces allowed per each household which contributed to the issues. Members were also interested to gain more information about the way in which the mediation services UNITE has been used.

Sustainable School Travel
The Committee questioned whether the recommendations had a positive effect and achieved what was set out.

Commissioning and Provision of Public and Community Transport
Members queried why the charges were below the commercial rates when the majority of users received an allowance for travel costs. Members also questioned why the Dial-A-Ride information on the website had not been updated. The Committee also asked when the savings/cost to date would be known for recommendations seven, eight and nine.

Members were reminded that the next meeting was 14th March 2010 and would receive a report with information of the reviews undertaken by the Committee over the last 4 years. Members would also receive a presentation from Richard Poundford on the current Regeneration and Economic Development Service prior to the service being the subject of a year 3 EIT Review.
