CONCLUDED that Stockton Home Safety Association would hold a stall at the event and the Chair would ask Cllr Cockerill if he would attend.

Cllr Ann Cains declared a personal non-prejudicial interest in the item entitled No Cold Calling Zones as the area where she lived had become one.

Consideration was given to the minutes of the meeting held on 14th July 2009.

Members sugested that an amendment be made to the minutes entitled Report of Trading Standards Officer which read:-
Members were also informed that a children's squeaky duck toy from a supermarket was found to be dangerous as the squeaker easily came out and could choke on it.

Member requested that it be changed to:-

Members were informed that the financial position was the same as at the last meeting as the monies that were granted had not been taken from the budget yet.

The Association were informed that doorstoppers had completed 1176 talk to residents groups, Members were also informed that RSVP had volunteered at the Tristar event which was held at Preston Park. It was noted that they were working on an audio C.D which Mrs Moriaty agreed to test when it was ready.

Lorraine Wilford informed the Association that there had been 17 requests for No Cold Calling Zones from the beginning of the year, 9 of these had been approved. Members were informed that if an area was not eligible for a No Cold Calling Zones then it could become a ‘Door Step Crime Watch Zone' where households would still receive stickers and information packs but no street signs would be put up.

Members were informed by e-mail that the Fire Brigade had carried out the following number of Fire Home Safety Visits:-
- 145 in Stockton
- 59 in Billingham
- 119 in Thornaby

It was also noted that they had fitted 324 smoke alarms.

The Association was informed about Sky Lanterns which the Chair had queried with Trading Standards. She had received an internet link from a constituent showing some of these being used and was unsure if they were safe. Members were informed that Sky Lanterns were not being sold anywhere in Stockton but were widely available from the internet. It was noted that safety checks had been completed by other organisations and they were not seen to be dangerous. It was proposed that the chair should write to the relevant government minister after consultation with Trading Standards.

The Association considered having a stall at the Are you Being Served Event on 27th October 2009. The Chair informed the association that she would already be facilitating for the event and would not be able to hold a stall, Cllr Cherrett stated that she would be available and would hold a stall on behalf of the Home Safety Association.
