Cllr Julia Cherrett decalred a personal non prejudicial in the item entitled Report of Children's Centre Officer as a member of Tristar.

Mr Redfern informed the Association that he had talked to 2204 residents since the start of Doorstoppers and had exceeded targets that had been set at the start of the project with another 9 months to go. It was noted that information was no longer being received from Operation Strongbow which was causing problems, the Police officer present explained the they were undertaking a re shuffle and this was causing problems.

Lorraine Wilford informed the Assocoaition that last year to 31st March 2010 there had been 38 applications for No Cold Calling Zones. There was 28 approved No Cold Calling Zones and 6 Doorstep Crime Zones. From 1st April 2010 to 27th July 2010 there had been 15 new applications. Members questioned how No Cold Calling Zones would affect them when canvassing next year for the local elections and asked if guidance could be provided.

The Chair explained that the Falls Day held on 23rd June 2010 was successful and the coasters and LED press on lights went down well, the Chairman thanked Mr Redfern's team for putting the batteries in the LED press on lights and had written to them. When speaking to people it was apparant that not enough publicity was given to the event so people were not aware of it taking place, it was questioned as to what other local authorities do for Falls Day and if this could be looked into, the Chairman stated that Age UK may have had something on their website.

The Children's Centre Officer informed the Association that as it was coming up to the school holidays it was fairly quiet. They had received a complaint through RoSPA from a Landlord as they had fitted equipment into a house and he did not want it but tenant signed to say that they were allowed the equipment fitting, SBC legal and insurance teams were happy with what they had done. Tristar had an agreement and were happy with child safety equipment being fitted in any of their properties. There had been problems in Children's Centres with IDs as it was unsure what IDs were real i.e. never seen a police officer's ID before so wouldn't really know if their ID was real, the Police Officer Present explained that this was because it is not spread around so people can't copy them.

The Police Officer explained that crime figures were mainly around metal theft mainly on void properties, Police were informing Landlords to remove boilers and radiators out of property and re fit when it was again occupied.

The Trading Standards Officer explained that baby clothing had been received from Australia with a life like Cherry on top and clothes which were flammable. Member were also informed that a bogus builder who was trying to charge large amounts of money for works was being investigated.

Members were informed that the Are You Being Served Event was taking place on 26th October 2010. Mrs Moriarty informed the Association that information regarding the Elected Mayor and Leader and Cabinet model had been received but was not in a readable format, although when registering blind it asked if this information could be passed on to the Council, the Secretary was going to look into this.
