In absence of the Community Safety Manager, Members were provided with a report which detailed an overview on crime and anti-social behaviour levels in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees between April to November 2014.

Members agreed that the positive statistics relating to crime and anti-social behaviour should be promoted across the Tees Valley in order to acknowledge the dedicated work of officers.

An Enforcement Officer from Trading Standards attended the meeting to provide Members with an update.

It was highlighted that on 13 December, new allergen legislation required food businesses such as bakeries, sandwich bars and hot food takeaways to provide allergy information on food sold unpackaged. Changes were also being made to existing legislation on labelling allergenic ingredients in prepacked foods. Guidance had been developed to help businesses meet these new requirements.
Members heard that a light touch enforcement approach had been taken in order to educate and advise businesses.

A Children's Centre Officer attended the meeting to provide Members with an update.

Members were informed that the Children's Centre Officer was carrying out safety session training with other officers in Children's Centres accross the Borough. It was highlighted that all officers would deliver the same safety session programme.
