Members were then given the opportunity to ask questions and make comment on the presentation.

Members were given a presentation on Stockton District Accidental Dwelling Fires and False Alarm Good Intent, Dwellings. The presentation covered the following key areas:-

* Cumulative YTD Actual v Target
* Stockton ADFs 2009/10 - 2013/14
* ADFs by ward
* Stockton HFSVs by Ward
* Cause of Fire
* Cooking First Ignited Source
* Electrical First Ignited Source
* Severity of Fire

Members were then given the opportunity of making comments and suggesting ways in which partners may be able to help with the issue. The following points were raised:-

* A checklist could be prepared for Social Workers who visit homes
* Is there more risk now that cuts are kicking in
* Education has to be a key priority
* The Fire Brigade has been an excellent partner for the SSP
* There could be a fire safety month
* A meeting could be held after the meeting with the Community Safety Manager
* Old houses that are pre war may have old wiring that needs replacing
* Phone chargers can cause fires
* All electrical appliances should be unplugged when they are not in use
* Councillor Nelson said he would put some information on his Facebook page and Norton Alert
